The Rioja Wine Interpretation centre is located in the century-old Haro Oenological Station, which since 1892 has been satisfying the region’s viticultural research and training needs, always taking care to ensure the quality of Rioja wine and the opening of new horizons.
The work of this centre, dependent on the Agricultural Department of the Government of La Rioja, is to provide support and assistance to private and public organisations in the Oenological sector. In their laboratory, the maturation and quality monitoring of wines of the Rioja Denomination of Origin are carried out, as well as of other Spanish denominations or even from other countries.
The centre is a pioneer in the sector and in October 1999 became the first Oenological Station in Spain to achieve the ENAC accreditation in accordance with International Standard IN 45001 for the great majority of the parameters analysed.

Next to the laboratory building, we have the guided exhibition with clear didactic and educational guidelines for visitors. Here, we can discover the viticultural and oenological practices (cultivation, winemaking, harvest, etc. ...) and the know-how of the farmers and winery proprietors, creators of one of the best wines in the world, the history of the grapevine and of wine, in addition to being able to hold courses in wine-tasting initiation for groups.
